Tired of the traditional red poinsettia!

There are many new varieties and colors now for the holidays

Poinsettias are America's favorite plant for the holiday. Besides the ubiquitous red poinsettia there are many new varieties with many shades in deep salmons to light apricots, creamy whites to almost a pure white. Plant breeders during the past decade have spent much of their time developing a whole new range of natural poinsettia colors.

What about the fantasy poinsettias?  Plant breeders haven't as of yest developed the elusive blue or orange poinsettia. Florist have helped nature along a little bit by marketing a whole new series of 'designer poinsettias". Now with various tints applied to the bracts, florists can create a whole new palette of poinsettia colors. So the "blue poinsettia" is a just a fantasy, not a new natural color development. Whatever you like in poinsettia, the natural spectrum of colors, or a 'fantasy' range of colors, now you have a wider selection  of colors and hues to compliment your holiday decor.
